The Swiss Cup final is coming up. 13-time Super League winners and champions FC Basel face a surprising opponent FC Biel. The third-division team is in the final for the first time since 60 years. However, the team doesn't have much chance of bagging the title. After some difficult years in terms of sport, Basel delivered a really good season and secured the 21st championship title with a whopping ten points lead over Servette, meaning they are now only six points behind the record winner, Grasshopper. Incidentally, they also holds the record for most cup wins. Basel will be aiming for their 14th on Sunday. The men in blue and red last lifted the trophy in 2019. Everything points to them finally doing it again this season. Biel lost vs Basel's U21 team just two weeks ago 0-3. The teams last faced each other in a friendly match in 2016, with Basel winning 3-2. The net value of both sides is drastically in favour of FC Basel. Basel has its full attacking lineup at their disposal and has defeated most of the Super League opponents this season, almost breaking the 100-goal mark. Biel recently lost just two games and missed out on promotion. |
